I’m Chris, a music producer, recording engineer, mix engineer and owner of Vale Studios, a professional, residential recording studio situated in the UK which is regularly used by major record labels and world class producers.
Over the last 15 years, I have recorded and mixed records for hundreds of musicians.
I mainly work on Pro Tools software but if I feel a mix will benefit from running elements through outboard
gear, I have plenty to choose from. For example, I often use my original EMT plate reverb for a lush
sound which is very hard to match ‘in the box’. I can also re-amp instruments if necessary.
I prefer to work on music played by human-beings (as opposed to programmed beats) and although I will sometimes
use samples to embellish real drums, I will only ‘sample replace’ if I feel it’s unavoidable. I’m absolutely fine with a
few programmed elements in songs but 100% programmed EDM, hip-hop, rap etc. is not really my thing.

I usually spend around a day on a mix, coming back to it the following day to check that I’m happy with it.
